Service Shut-downs & Service Connection Permits

If your project requires the UBC Department of Plant Operations to halt services to any area of the UBC Vancouver site, you must apply for a Service Shut-down Permit. A Service Connection Permit is required for each new connection to an existing UBC service distribution system, including gas, water, electrical, sewer, steam, communications, and fire suppression system

A Building Permit is required for all construction regulated under the BC Building Code and UBC Development & Building Regulations including new buildings, additions to existing buildings, renovations to existing buildings, and change of use of an existing building.

The owners of strata-titled premises at UBC must apply for a Building Permit in order to complete renovations within their unit. This permit covers new construction and alterations, demolitions, temporary buildings and structures
